The staff and board members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Kentucky would like to thank the many individuals and businesses in Warren and surrounding counties who helped make the 2009 Rivendell Bowl For Kids’ Sake successful in these tough and uncertain economic times.  We know that many individuals and businesses gave sacrificially to help us raise approximately $145,000.  We extend our utmost appreciation to the 1,738 bowlers at all three bowling events and our local kind citizens who made monetary donations, as well as all the generous-minded businesses and restaurants who donated food and door prizes.  We especially want to thank Rivendell, our Title Sponsor, and each of our lane sponsors and in-kind sponsors, who are too numerous to mention!  We cannot thank this community enough for their overwhelming generosity during times such as this.

Thanks to this community’s support of our organization, we were able to serve 10% more children during 2008 by providing mentoring services to 378 matches in our three-county area. With April also being Volunteer Appreciation Month, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our “Bigs” who are impacting precious young lives each and every day. And, we can always use more caring volunteers who wish to serve as a positive role model and friend to a child still waiting.  Contact us for more information about being a mentor, (270) 781-1180, or visit www.bbbsky.com.

Thank you again for your loyal support of Big Brothers Big Sisters!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Kentucky

Bowling Green, KY

Bowl For Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Kentucky’s largest annual fundraising event, which provides close to half of our annual operating budget.  During this fundraiser, approximately 2,000 individuals in our community turn out to bowl for the benefit of Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mentoring programs.  Dollars raised at this event support local volunteer recruitment efforts, as well as provide professional staff who screen volunteers before they are matched, perform monthly monitoring of each match’s progress, and organize group events for both active matches and for those children still waiting to be matched.  In 2008, our agency supported 378 matches--a 10% increase from the previous year.

The more money raised at
Bowl For Kids’ Sake
, the more children Big Brothers Big Sisters will be allowed to serve and inspire to reach their full potential through an ongoing relationship with a caring adult.

Participation in Bowl For Kids’ Sake is simple.  Teams are composed of five members, with each member raising at least $30 (totaling a minimum of $150 per team).  Teams are selected by one person who designates himself/herself as “team captain,” who then chooses four friends, co-workers, or relatives to bowl with him/her on a team.  Each participant will receive one game of complimentary bowling, food and sodas from our hospitality room, and the opportunity to earn our unique event t-shirts, as well as chances to win a variety of nice prizes.  All proceeds will benefit our local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
